I almost always feel have dark chocolate on hand for days and evenings when I need a little pick-me-up. While my go-to is usually a dark chocolate bar, I decided to try making a healthier version of dark chocolate truffles (without any added sugar) and these turned out so well!
These truffles are made with only 5 real food ingredients:
- Avocado
- Cacao powder
- Dates
- Walnuts
- (optional) Freeze-dried strawberries
Not only are the ingredients clean, but these truffles are also made almost entirely in a blender, making them super easy and quick to prepare.
I chose to coat them in freeze dried strawberry powder for a little bit of added tartness, but they can also be coated in cacao powder, coconut flakes, or anything else that you like.
Ingredients
1 avocado
3/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup dates, pitted
1/4 cup cacao powder
(optional) 1/4 cup freeze dried strawberries
Directions
- Add all ingredients except freeze-dried strawberries to a blender and blend until well combined.
- Scoop a spoonful of the mixture and roll into a ball. Set aside and continue until all of the chocolate is used.
- Run strawberries through a food processor (or crush manually) until it has a powder-like consistency. Pour into a bowl.
- Roll each truffle around in the strawberry powder until coated. Store in refrigerator.
