Growing up, I absolutely loved gummy candy. Gummy bears, gummy worms, gummy rings, you name it! That’s why I had been holding on to this idea of making my own gummies using real fruits and vegetables for a while, but every time I thought about it, I felt too intimidated to try. I haven’t had much experience making my own candy (I’m much more comfortable baking) and something about using gelatin made it seem even more complicated.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, while browsing on Amazon, I came across some silicon gummy bear molds and finally decided to give this project a try. I’m so glad I did! These were actually really easy and fun to make. The kids enjoyed dropping the gelatin mixture into the silicon molds (fair warning: that part did get a little messy) and were thrilled to see the liquid become little candies for them to enjoy.
After making our first batch of strawberry gummies, we got a little adventurous and started trying out several different flavor combinations. To make your own, just substitute out the 1 cup of strawberries in the recipe below with any fresh fruit/veggie combination or juice of your choosing (if using juice, you can skip the blender step).
